Let the town of Teague roar loud as
Lion pride has a new leader. Josh
Finney, the 30 year old head coach
from Maud ISD was announced as the
new head football coach and Athletic
Director at Teague ISD in a special
board meeting Tuesday night in
Teague.
In July of this past year, Kevin
Hayes resigned from his position at
Teague and Kim Harris then took over
as interim head football coach until
season’s end, after which he also
resigned.
Finney, who guided the Maud
Cardinals to a combined 38-12 record
in four years, will take over the
embattled position at Teague. In
addition to coaching four years at
Maud, Finney was also an assistant
Coach at Lone Oak, Groveton and
Waskom. He graduated from Winnsboro
High School and Southwestern College
in Kansas.
Finney takes over a Teague Lion team
that was just 1-9 in 2009 and 4-17
over the last two years. A proven
winner in the 1A ranks, Finney
believes Teague is a “gold mine” and
cannot wait to get started. The
town of Teague, its school board,
and Lion fans alike have battled
their way to this final resolution
that many believe was the right
choice for the program.
Good luck to everyone in Teague as
you move forward with your new hire.
SuperCentex.com and our staff will
be watching and supporting the Lions
as you transition back to your
winning ways.
